While Queens of the Stone Age haven’t put out an album since 2007’s Era Vulgaris, the rockers are picking up right where they left off with their hard-hitting, blues-inflected, trance-inducing arena rock. The new album … Like Clockwork, features a wide range of guest contributors from the expected (Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor) to the surprising (Sir Elton John).
While the album’s contributors are diverse, so are the tracks on QOTSA’s sixth studio release. Songs like “I Appear Missing” and “Kalopsia,” show off the band’s ability to craft completely divergent songs into a cohesive album that is shaping up to be one of the most essential rock releases of the year. If you can’t wait, the album is streaming on iTunes now (make sure to open the artist page).
