Brazilian rock band CSS, a.k.a. Cansei de Ser Sexy — which roughly translates as tired of being sexy — have come a long way from their Brazilian party rock ways. The group’s forthcoming fourth album is filled with catchy, smart electro-pop that manages to stay true to their indie dance roots, while exploring new ground.
For Planta, the group worked with producer Dave Sitek, who recently worked on new albums by Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beady Eye (who also have a new album coming out on June 11). “Hangover,” the first track from the new album, is a collaboration with Tim Armstrong of Rancid. It’s a song that CSS lead singer Lovefoxxx described as “summer in space,” which is as apt a description of the band’s ethereal dance tunes as any.
