Opening stadium shows for an all-time-great rock bands is a great way to attract attention, but many bands would buckle under the pressure. Vintage Trouble never winced when they accompanied The Who for five weeks last year. Instead, they just set about stealing the spotlight with their solidly soulful garage rock. The band’s frontman, Ty Taylor, infuses the band’s frenzied blues sound with a modern day James Brown vibe, paired with a heart-of-rock-n-roll sensibility. It’s a distinctly American sound with jangly guitars, frenetic beats, bluesy riffs. Which is ironic, because while they fill venues all over Europe, the LA.-based band is still relatively under the radar stateside. Coachella may help them finally break in America—and you should be there when it happens.
See them live: 12:15 PM, Saturday, April 13, Coachella Stage
