Savages don’t have a full-length album and they rarely play shows, so whenever they do make an appearance stateside it’s well worth your time to watch them create their explosive post-punk. The all-female four-piece have been a band for less than two years (their debut gig was January 2012), but they have built their reputation as a must-see band after a series of hauntingly dark performances which drew comparisons to Nick Cave, the Slits and Joy Division. The band plays tightly controlled but exploratory and expansive rock that ends up sounding wildly innovative and completely refreshing.
