Cruise has never had much down time between relationships. He met Nicole Kidman on the set of their 1990 film Days of Thunder and the two married on Christmas Eve of the same year. The couple remained married for over 11 years and adopted two children during that time, Isabella Jane Cruise and Connor Antony Cruise. The Hollywood acting powerhouse added two more movies to their joint resume following the success of Days of Thunder, filming Far and Away in 1992 and the steamy Eyes Wide Shut in 1999. In keeping with a Cruise tradition, as the marriage ended Cruise met actress Penelope Cruz on the set of Vanilla Sky in 2001 and they lived together for three years.
