Following his first two movies, Endless Love and Taps, both in 1981, Cruise got his first starring role in the 1983 movie Risky Business. Credit this film with really launching Cruise as a bankable top man, a young hunk that millions could fall in love with and pay to watch do just about anything (especially flying powerful military jets just two years later). Or maybe you should just credit a certain dancing scene. When Cruise’s character gets a bit drunk and prances around his parents’ house in a pink dress shirt, tight white underwear and some white tube socks, Cruise’s bad boy image was born. Character Joel Goodson (oh, we see what you did what that last name) continues his risky ways, even if he seemingly cleans it all up for the outside world.
