Bond movies are now famous for the songs that go along with each — and we can’t wait for the Skyfall theme from Adele — but no Bond theme hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 until 1985, when Duran Duran’s “A View to a Kill” finally took the top spot.
Other Bond themes to make it into the top 10 include Shirley Bassey’s “Goldfinger” (1964), Paul McCartney and Wings’ “Live and Let Die” (1973), Carly Simon’s “Nobody Does It Better” from The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Sheena Easton’s “For Your Eyes Only” (1981) and Madonna’s “Die Another Day” (2002).
Sergio Mendez and Brazil ’66’s “The Look of Love” from the 1967 Casino Royale was also a top-10 hit.
