Show: Agatha Christie’s Poirot
Hercule Poirot isn’t a native of television, but the British TV incarnation of Agatha Christie’s famed Belgian inspecteur is one of the most familiar versions of the character, and perhaps the most faithful outside the books. (Plus, he gives Tom Selleck a run for his money in the detective-facial-hair category.) Poirot isn’t a funny detective or even a nice one, but he knows how to solve a crime. And he’s busy: Suchet has played Poirot in 65 separate ITV films since 1989—and the network announced last fall that they would begin filming five more this year, meaning that the television Poirot will have become almost as prolific as Christie herself.
