Garber’s acting resume was already substantial before Titanic. His first stage success came in his native Canada, where he performed as Jesus in Godspell in 1971. A year later, he gained fame when he reprised the role in the U.S. film version. He also had roles in Sleepless in Seattle and First Wives Club, but his highest profile turn came as the Titanic‘s Thomas Andrews, who calmly awaits the ship’s inevitable sinking.
