A year after Titanic debuted, Bates received critical acclaim for her role in Primary Colors. And though she received another Best Supporting Actress Oscar nod in 2002 for About Schmidt and recently appeared in The Blind Side and Midnight in Paris, Bates has concentrated mostly on television acting and directing. (Up next: a performance as Charlie Sheen’s ghost in Two and a Half Men later this month.) Unlike the original Titanic, she has high hopes for the 3-D film, but as she told Entertainment Weekly, “I hope I don’t look three times as fat.”
