2013 VMA, Artists.MTV, Music, Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus was introduced by an SNL star, Vanessa Bayer, doing a Miley Cyrus impersonation—and that was the least weird thing about the performance. From the moment Cyrus popped out of a teddy bear’s stomach, clad in a tiny bear-faced leotard and with her tongue sticking out of her mouth, the former Disney star did her best to show the world that she has shed any semblance of Hannah Montana. In the night’s most memorable performance — which has to be seen to be believed — Cyrus sang her hit “We Can’t Stop” before being joined on stage by a Beetlejuice-looking Robin Thicke, who sang his song “Blurred Lines” while Cyrus stripped down into a nude bikini and twerked and groped on stage. In case you were wondering, yes, her mother was in the audience.
After Cyrus left the stage, Thicke was joined by 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar to sing “Give It 2 U”… not that anyone had recovered enough to pay attention.
