When the enthusiastic phrase “White boy can spit!” is used to introduce an act, it’s pretty clear the performer in question must be Macklemore. Sure enough, Jason Collins, the NBA star who recently came out about his sexuality, and up-and-coming rapper A$AP Rocky (standing two feet shorter) were talking about Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ human-rights anthem “Same Love” featuring Mary Lambert — and a surprise appearance by Jennifer Hudson. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were big winners last night, taking home Moon Men for Best Hip Hop video (beating a stronger collection of nominees including A$AP Rocky, Lamar and Drake) and Best Cinematography for their song “Can’t Hold Us,” as well as Best Video With a Social Message for their song “Same Love.”
