Disney’s announcement that it had purchased the rights to the Star Wars movies—and was planning a slew of new films came as a surprise to countless fans who thought the series had ended (for many, unsatisfyingly) with the 2005 release of Episode III-Revenge of the Sith. (Indeed, such is the place that those movies still occupy in our culture, that the news made it to the front page of newspapers and news sites around the world.)
As fans of the movies, we’re excited at the prospect of seeing new stories from this corner of the galaxy. But we do have some concerns. What follows are some modest suggestions for the filmmakers.
