Five years after the first green monster movie, the Hulk got a much-needed redo with Edward Norton in the starring role. The Incredible Hulk received better reviews than Ang Lee’s attempt and beat it at the box office, raking in more than $250 million worldwide. Half a decade may have felt like half a century in CGI terms: The Hulk’s muscles and facial structure were much more believable. The film—which also established a new backstory where Banner becomes the Hulk as an unwitting pawn in a military scheme to reinvigorate the supersoldier program through gamma radiation—also starred Liv Tyler as Betty Ross.
