After the destruction of North America, a confederation of 12 districts and a capitol known as Panem rises. The film, and the book on which it is based, follows Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, through the 74th annual Hunger Games, a Roman gladiator-inspired contest to the death for 24 youths. There can be only one survivor.
