Bob Dylan didn’t write “We Are the World.” (That honor goes to Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.) His solo isn’t even the worst part of the song. But that doesn’t excuse him from participating in it. The creators of “We Are the World” had good intentions (to raise money for famine relief in Africa) and we applaud the musicians who agreed to be a part of the 1985 charity project. But did they have to go with such a corny song? Over 10 million copies of “We Are the World” have sold worldwide. Does anyone still listen to it?
