The beloved Captain B.J. Hunnicutt of MASH starred in JFK: A One-Man Show (1984) for PBS. He wrote in the Huffington Post that it had been his “ambition to portray John F. Kennedy, the first US President I was old enough to vote for.” People magazine gave the production a lukewarm reception: “Farrell’s attempt at an accent distracts from the writing, and it leads him to give too even a performance, with little emotion, little force. Still, the impersonation is interesting enough…” The Chicago Tribune praised his “poignant performance.”
