The cast of 'Once The Musical' performs onstage at The 67th Annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall on June 9, 2013 in New York.
Yes, the Tonys show is essentially a commercial for Broadway — but does every darn musical on the block have to get into the act? The gimmick of having cast members from long-running shows (The Lion King, Chicago, Mamma Mia) introduce scenes from this year’s nominees just seemed to clutter up the proceedings. And yet another number from last year’s Tony winner Once? Luckily, the show was running long and most of the song was buried in a commercial.
