Don’t be fooled by the overalls. Even though Chucky’s not technically an evil kid — he’s sort of a doll and sort of an evil adult — no list of little villains would be complete without him. The serial killer and voodoo master stuck in a toy first appeared in 1988’s Child’s Play, and although sequels have left him married and with kids of his own, he hasn’t gotten any less nasty. The original movie now looks dated, but the real menace of Chucky is still shiver-inducing: that a beloved birthday doll could be capable of such horrors and that no one would believe that you witnessed them. The unfortunate people who cross his path seem crazy if they don’t end up dead. And that kind of creepiness works, even if batteries aren’t included — or required.
