What’s scarier than one evil kid? How about a whole town full of them? The young denizens of Gatlin, Neb., made that point in the 1984 cult classic Stephen King’s Children of the Corn, based on a King short story. The boys and girls from Gatlin may mean well — all they want is a good corn harvest, and they’re nothing if not religious — but the human-sacrifice cult they develop to appease the demonic He Who Walks Behind the Rows is anything but wholesome. And having lots of creepy children around means having lots of adult victims, particularly any who suffer the horror-movie cliché of an auto accident on a deserted road. But here’s what’s even scarier than a whole town full of evil kids: the slew of, dare we say it, corny sequels spawned by Children of the Corn.
