THE INTEL: The son of South Korean immigrants, Jeong was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina (where his father taught at nearby North Carolina A&T State). A distinguished high-school student, Jeong embarked on the academic arc that is every Asian parent’s dream: four years at a prestigious university (Duke) and an M.D. from a top medical school (UNC – Chapel Hill). It was during his residency in internal medicine at a New Orleans hospital that Jeong began working on his comedy.
