COLD PLACE: Finnmark, a county in the northernmost region of Norway
Aigin, a young boy and member of an indigenous people called the Sami, returns home one day to find his family massacred by a warring tribe of the bellicose Chudes. He makes his way to the nearest Sami settlement and warns them of the impending danger. Set in the first millennium, Pathfinder has a remarkable urgent energy — and in young Aigin, a fearless and ruthlessly clever protagonist.
WHERE THESE SCENES WERE SHOT: Finnmarksvidda, a vast plateau featuring pine barrens, bogs, and winter temperatures as low as 115 degrees below zero.
OTHER “COLD” MOVIES LOOSELY BASED ON PATHFINDER BUT SET IN NORTH AMERICA: 2007’s Pathfinder, starring The Lord of the Rings’ Karl Urban
