COLD PLACE: High in the Andes range straddling the border of Chile and Argentina
Best remembered (usually with a shudder) for its infamous “eating” scenes, Alive presents its main characters — an Uruguayan rugby team whose plane has crashed in the Andes — as heroic survivors, forced to make some heart-wrenching decisions. Opening with an airplane crash that made many question the supposed safety of sitting in the rear of a plane, the film effectively makes the argument that mountains and airplanes don’t mix.
WHERE THESE SCENES WERE SHOT: In the Purcell Range and few other icy locations in British Columbia
