Not surprisingly, the celebratory July 4 holiday lends itself well to references in song. David Lee Roth was “firecrackin’ on the Fourth of July” with lovely Lady Liberty in the inimitable “Yankee Rose,” while Chicago reminisced on a Fourth of July of their own (they think) in 1972’s “Saturday in the Park.” L.A. twangy punk band X, meanwhile, used the holiday as a backdrop to dimmed-fire domestic discontent in the Dave Alvinco-written “Fourth of July.”
