The Fab Five of Queer Eye Carson Kressley, Ted Allen, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia and Jai Rodriguez are probably better known for their on-air antics and overblown personalities than they are for their straight-men fashion makeovers. And there’s nothing like a hairy nudist dubbed “Scary Garcia” to bring out these characters’ hidden eccentricities.
In this 2005 episode, the guys pull up to Jim Boyd’s house, honking their trademark SUV while also yelling “Honk, honk, honk” to alert Boyd to put some pants on. Of course, Boyd answers the door fully exposed anyway, much to the delight of the gang (and, inevitably, the show’s producers). Shortly thereafter, Carson, purveyor of the show’s most stylish clothes, decides to connect with his inner nudist, as he strips down to nothing and takes a trot around the house while his castmates look on in shocked amusement.
Queer Eye, originally called Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, won praise for addressing with good-natured humor the sometimes uncomfortable interactions between straight and gay men, and was an instant hit when it appeared on Bravo in 2003. The series went on to win an Emmy in 2004 before going off the air in 2008.
