Adams is to break-up songs what Terry Cashman is to baseball ditties, but this one, which balances gracefully on the hinge between disgust (“Come pick me up/ take me out/ f— me up/ steal my records”) and desire (“I wish you would”), is easily his best. Besides capturing the essence of post-breakup attraction-repulsion syndrome, the melody is pumped up by a real mean bit of harmonica playing.
