Air Force One is the classic Harrison Ford vehicle — he’s the handsome, down-to-earth hero with surprisingly good hand-to-hand combat skills. Hours after President Marshall vows never to negotiate with terrorists, his plane is hijacked by a pack of terrorists (man, he must regret that speech). Gary Oldman is the lead hijacker with the flimsy Russian accent, while Glenn Close plays the very blond, very assertive vice president. “He has no right to take chances with his own life!” she says of President Marshall. But take chances he does, especially in the final scene in which Ford is attached to a cable swinging from a plane in midair.
