Depeche Mode has been together for more than 30 years, but not once during that long and storied career, has the band ever played at SXSW. However, when the band–about to release their 13th studio album, Delta Machine, on March 26 – announced that they would be in Austin for a series of interviews and a Q&A panel, it wasn’t much of a leap to suspect that they would add a show to their schedule. Sure enough, the band announced a set at Brazos Hall on Friday, March 15th as part of Yahoo!’s official showcase.
Unfortunately, as with most of the big shows, fans who want to see “People Are People” or “Enjoy the Silence” played live, can’t expect to just walk right in. The concert is only open to badge holders lucky enough to win a ticket lottery. Don’t worry, though: the band just announced a North American tour, which kicks off in Detroit in August.
