Tuesday night, Jimmy Fallon had a special guest on his show: the man who will be succeeding him in three weeks. Fallon ceremoniously passed the hosting torch to Seth Meyers, but in true Late Night comedic fashion, there was no opulent, golden flame handed over — it was a giant green pickle. Meyers is the fourth Late Night host to be bequeathed the vinegary victual. It all started as a prop in the office when David Letterman was hosting, which he passed down to Conan O’Brien in 1993, and then to Fallon when he took over in 2009. Meyers will take over the host desk on Feb. 24.
