Britney Spears’ two-year residency at Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino kicked off Friday night, catching the wave of New Year’s Eve revelers in town for the weekend.
The Grammy-winning singer had the audience on its feet throughout the 90-minute show, which included acrobatics, a ring of fire, confetti and Spears being hoisted into the air, the Associated Press reports. Spears will perform 50 shows a year in 2014 and 2015 in a 7,000-seat theater that has been reduced to 4,500 seats by closing the balcony. Tickets to the show, which takes place in a relatively intimate nightclub theater, range from $59 to $179 and include bottle service.
Spears is relatively young to take up residency as a Vegas regular. She joins the ranks of more senior performers, including Celine Dion and Elton John.
