Caged Heat (1974)
The Oscar-winning director of The Silence of the Lambs was working as a junior ad man in Swinging ‘60s London when Corman tapped him to write exploitation movie scripts. (He’d eventually produce and direct them.) One of his most memorable early gigs was on this lurid women-in-prison picture—a genre that Corman basically invented in the early ‘70s with such titillating tales as The Big Doll House, The Big Birdcage, and Demme’s equally tawdry The Hot Box.
