Family is important, eh? If your drinking buddy is your brother, you can’t just tell him to, you know, take off, eh, even if he is acting like a total hoser, eh? That’s the lesson for Bob and Doug McKenzie, the Canadian beer chuggers who made Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas famous, first in SCTV, then on record, and finally, in this movie (which begins, aptly, with the MGM lion letting loose a belch).
Here, the boys find themselves working in their dream jobs at the Elsinore brewery, only to become enmeshed in a family succession drama worthy of (and totally stolen from) Hamlet. If that weren’t enough, there’s also a scheme to mickey all the beer with a mind-control serum, a plot that only the mindless McKenzies can foil. By the way, as Bob notes, the movie was shot in 3B: “Three beers and it looks good, eh.” Counters Doug, “Hoser-rama. Call it Hoser-rama.” Okay, good day, eh.
