Jazz piano player Keith Jarrett sued Steely Dan for copyright infringement after hearing a riff from “Long As You Know You’re Living Yours” off of his 1974 Belonging in their track “Gaucho.” Jarrett successfully earned himself a writing credit—and a split of the royalties—for “Gaucho.”
