AS THE CREDITS ROLL: We won’t spoil the ending for those who still haven’t seen writer-director Tony Gilroy’s exquisitely crafted legal thriller, but the movie concludes on a sublime note that has the titular flawed protagonist (George Clooney) entering a New York City cab—and sitting in silence for two minutes.
THE MUSIC: “25 Dollars Worth,” composed by James Newton Howard
SEMI-RELEVANT FACTOID: In a 2007 interview, Gilroy revealed that he didn’t come up with this ending until very near the end of production—and that he was partly inspired by the closing scene of the French movie The Piano Teacher.
