Ondotropica is a band on a mission: to bring the Colombian music tradition to the modern world while staying closely tied to its historic roots. Spearheaded by English producer Will Holland (of Quantic) and Columbian musician Mario Galeano (of Frente Cumbiero), Ondotropica brought together some of Colombia’s musical living legends like saxophonist Michi Sarmiento and Mario Rincon with their next generation counterparts (Chilean MC Ana Tijoux and Colombian beatboxer El Chongo) to create an all-star cast. The result is a 2-CD live album, which captures the heart and the evolution of Colombian music from traditional cumbia, porro, gaita and champeta to modern beat-box, hip-hop, and funk.
