Why You Need to Listen: When Teeny Lieberson founded TEEN in 2010, she should have chosen a different name to avoid misconceptions about the band. Sure she left Here We Go Magic to make music with her sisters Katherine and Lizzie and friend Jane Herships, but TEEN is no girl group. The band makes languorous, lo-fi psychedelic pop, more likely to be heard in a piano bar than during a pillow fight. Since releasing the EP in April 2011, the band has steadily honed their darkly dreamy sound. Their full-length debut, In Limbo, which was mixed and produced by Spacemen 3’s Sonic Boom, hits stores on August 28.
