THE STORY: More than 100 actresses—including Sharon Stone—auditioned for the role of “Willie” Scott, Indiana Jones’ love interest in the much anticipated follow-up to Raiders of the Lost Ark. The director ultimately chose the relatively unknown Capshaw to play the part and, at least in this case, it was director—rather than the leading man—who ended up with the girl.
WHAT BECAME OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP: The couple wed in 1991. They are still married.
STEVEN SPIELBERG: “Temple of Doom is my least favorite of the trilogy. I look back and I say, ‘Well the greatest thing that I got out of that was I met Kate Capshaw.'”
