A no-nonsense destination for serious art collectors, Paddle8 lets members purchase high-end, original fine art directly on the site. Its current catalog of 6,000 pieces includes everything from a $1.3 million Andy Warhol silkscreen to a $40 ceramic sculpture by brothers Scott and Tyson Reeder. Unlike Art.sy, which doesn’t sell any art directly on its site (prospective buyers have to connect with the gallery), Paddle8 has a “Buy” or “Acquire” button and will give you an exact price that it guarantees for 72 hours. The site, which launched in 2011, makes visitors apply for membership in order to buy, but don’t be put off by that virtual velvet rope: most requests get approved within a day or two.
