In their classic ballad “Summer Song,” Chad and Jeremy captured the bittersweet pain of losing a summer love when the fall comes and you go your separate ways. That feeling was on Richard Marx’s mind when he returned from vacation in Hawaii with his girlfriend, actress Cynthia Rhodes. Inspired by that trip, Marx penned “Endless Summer Nights” as a theme to lost summer love. It worked. Rather than go their separate ways, in the winter Marx and Rhodes wed; 22 years later, they are still married, with three sons.
