The Duck Dynasty star who caused an uproar this week with fiercely anti-gay remarks also called homosexuals “insolent, arrogant God-haters” in 2010.

A video of reality TV star Phil Robertson’s sermon against gay people has been online since 2010, but it gained new attention Friday following his indefinite suspension from the A&E show. In the video, Robertson says that homosexuals “bow down to birds, animals and reptiles, and each other.”

“Women with women, men with men, they committed indecent acts with one another,” Robertson said. “They are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil.”

On Wednesday, A&E suspended Roberston from the show indefinitely after he made anti-gay remarks in an interview with GQ. The decision prompted a backlash from conservatives, but was applauded by gay rights supporters.

Listen some people grow up with different beliefs. Where they grew up, theyre will be many other issues including but not limited to race, northern's being yankees, Muslims, city folk, republican, democrat, drug addicts etc... Who cares. There are plenty of homosexuals that can't stand straight people, vice versa. There's plenty of blacks that hate white people, vice versa. There's plenty of country folk that hate city folk, vice versa. Plenty of republicans and democrats hate each other. After 9/11 i bet there was plenty of Muslim haters. You could read the Bible verbatim, which Robertson almost did, and the same people would scream.  This is because LGBT'ers and the Left hate traditional values and especially Christians, being about the only people left standing between them and the abortion-soaked Sodom and Gomorrah of their hearts desire.

The bible makes many things a sin. Round haircuts, football(handling a pig carcass), fortune telling, tattoos, polyester, divorce, wearing gold, and eating shellfish. If there are any Christians that exhibit one or more of the above, they are sinning. However, many would like to ignore all, or most of the above, and focus on homosexuality, and for obvious reasons this would be called homophobia. Homophobia, all in a vain to use Christianity as a cover for that homophobia.

Gay Ducks?

Questions such as those asked of Phil Robertson are designed specifically to set someone up for ridicule, accusations, and attack. At such times we do not have to give an answer. The US constitution guards our freedom of speech even if our answer is silence.

For some reason Christians believe we are obligated to deliberately step into a trap. This is most likely because of a belief that somehow we are denying our faith unless we invite persecution. (In my opinion we are more afraid of incurring the wrath of fellow believers and would prefer the world’s brand of persecution.)

The Bible also protects our silence. Jesus did not always answer his accusers. There were situations when He remained silent. At times He either did not fully answer, or did not directly give an answer.

Matthew 27:14

And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marveled greatly. 

Matthew 26:62-64

62The high priest stood up and said to Him, "Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?" 63But Jesus kept silent.

I know these verses have a context. My point is that we do not have to invite the world to kick us in the face. This is especially applicable when such questions have nothing to do with the overall tone and purpose of the context in which they are asked. When such a trap is setup and clearly has nothing to do with what the interviewee does, maybe we should not answer. (What does a duck call show have to do with homosexuality? What connection is there between a ministry to the homeless, the physically challenged, or drug addicts and the views of those involved in such ministries on gun control, abortion, homosexuality, a military conflict, etc.?)

If we could look outside the box just a little we could see the part that says we are to be wise as serpents…Matt.10:16

@LouisRobbins   Rom 1:31 is not the end of the passage. You forgot Rom 2:1, which tells us that it is not our job to spiritually judge homosexuals (or anyone). It is our job to LOVE them into the kingdom. There are  gays who are far more Christ-like than many Christians I know. It's not about having about the right "belief system" but about how much we love people like Jesus loved people. It's not about being "right" but being LOVING.

Nope, I don't work for GQ, I don't even have a subscription. The bible actually does a really good job explaining in depth each one of these sins. If you care to read, here is the breakdown:

Round haircuts: Leviticus 19:27 reads "You shall not round off the side-growth of your heads nor harm the edges of your beard."

Football: Leviticus 11:8, which is discussing pigs, reads "You shall not eat of their flesh nor touch their carcasses.

Fortune telling: Leviticus 19:31 reads "Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them.

Tattoos: Leviticus 19:28 reads, "You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves

Polyester: Leviticus 19:19 reads, "You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together."

Divorce: Mark 10:9 reads, "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."

Gold: Timothy 2:9 reads, "Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments."

Shellfish: Leviticus 11:10 reads, "But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable

So my question again, why do some people ignore these sins, that the bible clearly states, and instead focuses on homosexuality, which the bible never clearly states? Homophobia is my guess, all in an effort to use Christianity as a shield to make themselves feel better about their homophobia.

@BillBrasky If only you had kept reading, Luke 6:43-45  says "For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit: neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.  For every tree is known by his own fruit.  For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.  Or the similar thoughts in Matthew 7: 16-20 which ends with "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them".  

We are commanded to judge one another based upon our fruits.  Luke 6:37 has been taken out of context and misunderstood to mean that Christians are not supposed to judge, ever.  That is not the case but even if it were, the bible still clearly states that "He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day." John 12:48.  

We delude ourselves to think we will never be judged again's GOD's commandments.   Whether we like or understand why they are what they are, is irrelevant.  

James 2:19-26 Starts with "Thou believest that there is one GOD; thou doest well; the devils also believe, and tremble." and ends with "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."  This means that it is not enough to just believe in Him, we have to obey Him, we have to act.  Those who say they believe in GOD and Christ but do not follow Their commandments will be surprised to find on that last day that belief was not enough.

@BillBrasky Romans 2:4 that you quoted above seems pertinent to the greater discussion in that GOD's patience may lead one to repentance.  Which is a change of heart leading to a change of life, or in other words feeling bad for the sins you have committed and sinning no more.  The gay agenda is to force everyone to accept that homosexuality is no longer a sin, not to seek repentance.

Earlier I provided not only the quotes from the bible, but provided the chapters as well as the verses for any reader to review. Can you explain how they are lies, any of them? These are sins, listed by the bible that are outdated, that many Christians no longer consider to be sins.

Homosexuality on the other hand, was never directly mentioned by god in the bible, since all chapters that briefly mention it were written by Paul and his viewpoints on that topic. How god could create a gay person, than proceed to condemn that person to hell seems a bit cruel.

So, why do some Christians have such strong viewpoints on the topic of homosexuality, while many others seem to of dropped possibility of it beinga sin all together like the other outdated sins listed in the bible?

My answer, close minded homophobia, all in an attempt to use Christianity as a cover to make themselves feel better about their dislike of the homosexual population.

Paul also told women to be silent, that women could not teach men. He told slaves to obey their masters. These kinds of social norms do not apply to us today. They are not "timeless spiritual truths" -- they are for a specific time and place. Same with social norms towards gays. Two thousand years ago, they thought being gay was a choice. Today, we know it is a biological-physical difference, common throughout all animal species.

Wasn't Corinthians written by Paul, and not god? In fact, the bible has been modified for well over a thousand years to fit different Kings and Emperors political and moral convictions through time. This may not of been gods word at all.

@do2Actually, Bill's list is just part of the canned response. He left out many of the jucier OT stuff. Get over it. You can't live your life by 3000 year old social norms. Jesus is timeless. But Paul's words were often for a specific time and place, and clearly not for today. Examples include slaves obeying masters and women remaining silent. Archaic and not for our era.

Louis, where does the bible condemn homosexuality? It seems strange that god would create a homosexual, than condemn that person to hell. Yes, Corinthians mentions it, however that section was written by Paul. As I mentioned earlier, the bible mentions many rules that Christians no longer abide by, why all the focus on homosexuality, that isn't clear in the bible?

I've always liked Duck Dynasty, I even think Phil is an amazing person. He invented a unique duck caller and patented it, to make millions. Even turned down a lucrative NFL contract just because it would of gotten in the way if Duck season. With that said, no one is perfect, and I believe he's a homophobe. It's not so much his fault, but more of a non cultured issue. I believe if Phil dropped his personal phobia and made an attempt to meet folks in the homosexual community he would find that they are god fearing just like himself. This is the path I believe AE should make, not suspending him, or firing him.
