12 Years a Slave was named best film at this year’s British Academy Film Awards, but Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity was the big winner of the night with a total of six awards.

The final large awards ceremony for the movie industry ahead of the Academy Awards was hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts on Sunday evening in London, reports the Hollywood Reporter.

Gravity won the award for outstanding British film — the movie was filmed in the U.K., and its special effects were also created there — and Cuarón also won the award for best director. The film, which starred Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, also won best cinematography and original music, as well as two technical awards.

Oscar favorite American Hustle won only two awards, for best original screenplay and a best-supporting-actress award for Jennifer Lawrence. 12 Years a Slave’s Chiwetel Ejiofor, who played the enslaved Solomon Northup, won best leading actor, while Cate Blanchett of Blue Jasmine won best leading actress.
