Fans, prepare yourself for some Motley Cruel news: The famed rock band Mötley Crüe is calling it quits after more three decades in the industry. Band members said in a press release Tuesday that the group will officially split after a final world tour.
But unlike many classic rock groups looking to cash on in fan nostalgia, this isn’t a faux breakup so they can cycle through endless lucrative farewell tours: The band signed a formal Cessation of Touring Agreement in front of reporters in Los Angeles that prohibits future, unauthorized performances.
The tour will kick off in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 2 and hit more than 70 U.S. markets before going international in 2015.
The Crüe promised it would be a tour to remember. (After all this hoopla, it better be.) “When it comes to putting together a new show we always push the envelope and that’s part of Motley Crue’s legacy,” bandmember Nikki Sixx said. Alice Cooper is set to open the show.
Mötley Crüe has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide.
Tickets go on sale Friday starting at $15, according to USA Today.
