Your favorite Christmas villain is returning to the big screen, just in time for 2017’s holiday season.
Universal has announced that Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas will open on Nov. 17, 2017, The Wrap reported Wednesday.
The animated version of the classic children’s tale is being directed by Pete Candeland and produced by Illusion Entertainment, the animation studio that brought us Seuss’ The Lorax.
The new Grinch will hit theaters 17 years after the release of Universal’s live-action version of the story, which starred Jim Carrey. That film grossed $345.1 million worldwide.
The original Grinch TV special aired in 1966 and starred Boris Karloff.
