R &B singer, Chris Brown, left, is shown with his attorney Mark Geragos during a hearing Wednesday Nov. 20, 2013 in Los Angeles.

Chris Brown has rejected a plea deal after allegedly hitting a man outside a Washington hotel, his lawyers say.

He appeared in a D.C. court Wednesday afternoon to face a misdemeanor assault charge after an October dispute outside the W Hotel, where allegedly told his victim that he “felt like boxing” before punching him, according to police reports acquired by CNN. Brown was on probation in California for a 2009 attack on singer Rihanna, then his girlfriend.

He will have a trial date set at another hearing, scheduled for Feb. 20, reports the Associated Press.

“Chris Brown’s not guilty,” Brown’s lawyer Danny Onorato said outside the court.
