Legendary Hong Kong movie producer Run Run Shaw died this week at 106. His films, which ranged from kung-fu classics to Blade Runner to Chinese opera, influenced filmmakers such as the Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix) and Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill). Not to mention rappers the Wu-Tang Clan, who named their debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) after the 1978 Shaw-produced film The 36th Chamber of Shaolin. Here’s a video tribute to the studio master.
