Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen will write a biography of the late filmmaker Nora Ephron.
Cohen was a longtime friend of the filmmaker, who wrote the screenplay for When Harry Met Sally and directed Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail. According to the New York Post‘s Page Six, Cohen asked Ephron’s family for permission to chronicle her life, and they agreed.
Cohen, who was the first speaker at Ephron’s funeral at her request, has written that they started out as enemies because he had written something about her that she didn’t like. But when Ephron began dating Cohen’s friend, Carl Bernstein, he and the filmmaker became friends. ‘This is going to be like the movies,” Cohen said she told him. “We start as enemies and end as friends.”
