The Broadway musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” will come to an early end in January and move to Las Vegas.
For a while, the $75 million production — the most expensive theatrical production ever staged — managed to draw massive crowds, perhaps as much due to publicity over cast injuries and backstage conflicts as the daring aerial stunts and U2-produced score. But with its local popularity declining, and investors still far from being reimbursed, it has been announced that the three-year old show will be moving on, the New York Times reports.
Key members of the production team will follow the set to Nevada, where producer Jeremiah J. Harris says the musical will be “sculpted for the Las Vegas market.”
