Some of the biggest stars in American comedy took to a state in Washington, D.C. on Sunday to honor comedy legend Carol Burnett, who received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
Julie Andrews, Tina Fey, Am Poehler and others performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, toasting Burnett’s seven-decade career, the Associated Press reports. Fey opened the show by saying she loves Burnett “in a way that is just shy of creepy.”
Burnett, whose eponymous Saturday night show ran from 1967 to 1978, accepted the award saying, “It was a long time in coming, but I understand — because there are so many people funnier than I am, especially here in Washington.”
