Grace Kelly’s fairytale marriage to Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956 turned her into a real-life princess. Now, it’s made her into the subject of Grace of Monaco, a forthcoming movie from director Olivier Dahan, who also made the Edith Piaf biopic La Vie en Rose.
In this new British trailer for the film, in which Nicole Kidman plays the iconic actress-turned-royal, the fantasy elements of Kelly’s story are underscored. But the narrator hints that not all was well with the princess as she settled into her new role — a topic that will sound familiar to those paying attention to this season’s cinema offerings, as Naomi Watts is taking on a sort of similar narrative in the biopic Diana, out Nov. 1.

The movie also stars Tim Roth as Prince Rainier III, Paz Vega as Maria Callas, Roger Ashton-Griffiths as Alfred Hitchcock, Parker Poset as Madge Tivey-Faucon and André Penvern as Charles de Gaulle.
Grace of Monaco opens in limited release in the United States on Nov. 27, 2013.
