Amy Adams, who’s nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in American Hustle, wasn’t always set on becoming an actress. In an interview, Adams said that while she always wanted to be an actor, there was a time when she considered becoming a doctor instead — before a minor obstacle blocked her path to medicine.
“I wish I had a more inspiring answer,” she laughed. “I wanted to be a doctor, or a performer, and I failed chemistry, so that left me with this option.”
In the video above, Adams describes her journey as an actress, and explains why Meryl Streep is one of her biggest inspirations in the industry.
